You’ll is never “You all”

Language evolves and changes with words or phrases from other countries becoming incorporated into everyday words across the globe. While using the phrase “you all” is not frequently heard in Australia yet, it’s beginning to permeate into our language and with it the confusion over spelling.

You’ll is the shortened form of “you will”. If you wish to write the abbreviation of “you all” it is spelt y’all.

Example 1

You’ll see koalas at the zoo tomorrow.

Example 2

Y’all need to hear this song.
