“Principal” has 2 meanings. The most common use is when referring to an important person within an organisation. For example:
The principal of a school.
I remember it because it ends in “pal” – not that the principal of my school was ever my pal.
The other meaning of “principal” is used in the banking and finance industry e.g. a principal and interest loan.
“Principle” means a fundamental rule or thought. For example:
A principle of law is, you are innocent until proven guilty.
