Today’s Words that Sell are Numbers

People love lists. Just think about all the books and articles you’ve seen with a number in the title. E.g. 100 books to read before you die, 50 ways to save money, 7 management tips from the experts.

When you use numbers in a social media headline, blog or email subject line, you’ll attract more readers simply because we love a numbered list.

But numbers also work because they indicate how long it will take us to read the post, blog or email. For example:

  • 3 tips = a short read
  • 20 tips = a longer read but often readers will quickly scan the content first to decide if they will read it now, later or never so you’ll still get that click and possibly an open.

While copywriters like to focus on words, there’s no denying the power of numbers. That’s why we believe numbers can work as Words that Sell.
